2. Flash Drive  - This is offered in our higher end packages with Ruth Silver as your photographer.  We find that Flash Drives tend to be more durable then DVD’s when it comes to bit rot.  They also don’t get as scratched as DVD’s.

3. Hard Drive – We always recommend saving your images (from DVD/Flash Drive) onto your computers hard drive.  If you have a second external drive we recommend saving it on there as well.  We personally have your images in our studio on 3+ hard drives.

4. Memory Vault – SanDisk has created a flash drive using Chronolock memory management technology.  Using accelerated temperature cycling tests, it can preserve data for up to 100 years.  We are offering this as an upgrade from DVD or Flash Drive.  The current cost to upgrade to the memory vault is $125.

5. Cloud – More and more we hear about “the cloud”.  It’s an off-site data storage to preserve your files.  Many options are out there — Google is probably one of the biggest known ones offering “Cloud” storage.  We offer all wedding packages 3 years of their photographs backed up in our “Cloud” storage facility — which happens to be our online lab.  Should you lose your pictures, we can download them again for a small fee within 3 years of your wedding.

6. Safety Deposit Box – If your house catches fire, a DVD, Flash Drive, Hard Drive and Memory Vault will all burn.  You can secure a backup of your pictures in a Safety Deposit Box or a Fire Proof Box in your home.

Our recommendation: Upgrade to a Memory Vault, backup your images on your hard drive and then place the disc or vault in a fire proof box.  Cloud storage is great so long as it is a company that will be around for a long time.  You may also find you’ll be paying per month or year for online storage that you may not use.  It may seem redundant but ask anyone that’s lived through a house fire (or a tornado).  The one thing they all say they wish they could have gotten (after family & pets) is their photographs.

So many brides tell me they’re foregoing the traditional garter toss.  The last thing they want on their wedding day is for their  partner to have his head up the dress, fishing for the garter while your family is watching.  No kidding.  Talk about embarrassing!  We know some couples will purchase a toss away garter much like a toss away bouquet.  Which isn’t a terrible idea anyhow considering you may want it as an heirloom from your wedding day.  If you opt for the toss away, be sure your spouse has it in his pocket to switch before throwing it to the groomsmen.

What if you could do the garter toss without it being embarrassing but instead classy and fun?  Here’s how.  Take off your shoe.  Stay standing and grab the bottom of your gown on the side of the leg that the garter is on.  Raise your skirt just high enough for your garter to show and position your leg attractively out to the front and side.  Your partner can then kneel down and slip the garter off your leg.

To best demonstrate this, an old movie “It Happened One Night” featuring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert offers a rather famous hitchhiking scene where Claudette attracts the attention of a passing car by raising her skirt just enough to show her leg.  At the 2:39 second mark be sure to witness the sexy maneuver.

With every wedding package, large or small, we include our 3 year guarantee that we will keep your pictures in storage should you happen to lose or misplace your disc!

It happens.  You may move and it gets lost in the shuffle or perhaps you put it someplace you wouldn’t forget and then can’t remember where you placed it!  Whatever the reason, we do our best to secure your wedding pictures!  We will store your pictures for three years off-site along with on multiple drives at our studio.

Our current off-site storage is available through Just Cloud which uses Amazon S3 storage servers.
