Zimmerman-Seroka Wedding

On Sunday, September 4th I joined Jenna and Keith in Ottawa at Pitswick Pavilion.  The weather was perfect and the ceremony was absolutely beautiful outdoors.  As the bridal party was getting ready for the ceremony to begin, Keith refrained from stealing a glance waiting for Jenna to walk down the aisle.

The bridesmaids were dressed all in a gorgeous shade of olive and the groomsmen with matching ties.  Inside the reception hall, the guests were lively — talking with one another while waiting for the wedding introductions.  I took a moment to photograph the details along with the cake.  The groom also had his own Transformers cake.  How fun!

Following the first dance, the bride and groom did the “dollar dance.”  It was a great opportunity to photograph many of the guests with the couple.  It’s also a great idea to consider if your family isn’t big on dancing.  It will get almost everyone on the dance floor once!

Thanks again for giving me the opportunity to share in your joyous day and inviting me to photograph your wedding.  Here’s a sneak peek from the wedding.  More to come!

Top 5 Reasons for an Unplugged Wedding

An unplugged wedding is when the bride and groom ask all guests not to bring (or use) their cell phone or other cameras at the ceremony and reception.  It’s not for everyone but it’s something you may want to consider for your wedding.

Why would you want an unplugged wedding?  If you’re hiring a professional wedding photographer, do you need low-resolution camera phone photographs too? What happens when a guest steps in front of the professional photographer with their camera or camera phone because they want the best shot?

Your ceremony may only last 15 minutes.  Where do you want your family and friends eyes for that time?  Should their heads be bent down and staring at an LCD reviewing photos?  How about your bridesmaids and groomsmen?  Is it appropriate for them to snap photographs while up at the alter with you?  How does this reflect on the professional photographs that you’ve paid for?

These are our top 5 reasons for an unplugged wedding.

5.   Guests can relax and enjoy the ceremony and reception.

4.   All eyes will be on the bride and groom; not checking the LCD for the previous picture.

3.  You won’t feel overwhelmed with 10 cameras pointing at you and not knowing where to look.

2.   Your wedding pictures won’t be on Facebook before you even say “I do.”

1.   You won’t have multiple guests with cameras in your professional photographs.

Randi & Steff’s Wedding

This past Saturday, the 13th of August I had been invited to photograph Randi and Steff’s wedding.  I was looking forward to their ceremony and had been hoping all week that the weather would cooperate for their outdoor wedding.  Although the forecast had been calling for rain in the morning and clearing for afternoon, as the week approached and Saturday came things turned out a little different.  I arrived just before 2pm in Braidwood to meet Randi and her bridesmaids getting ready.  The weather was absolutely beautiful.  Clear skies, warm and in the mid to upper 80′s.  I even captured a picture of the sign on the way to their ceremony site.  You can see the gorgeous sky!  I took pictures of Randi and the girls getting ready and as it was time to leave for the ceremony, the sky had quickly darkened and the wind had picked up.  We were fortunate enough that the rain held off just long enough for us to enjoy the ceremony, formals and the introductions before it came pouring down.  Thankfully Randi and Steff had been prepared in case of rain and had rented a gorgeous canopy tent that held up in the weather.  A few minutes later the storm passed and we saw a rainbow over the neighbors house.

The wedding was absolutely gorgeous.  The bridesmaids dressed all in a beautiful shade of blue and groomsmen with matching ties.  The bouquets were creatively designed and again keeping with the theme had beautiful blue flowers.  The cake too was incredibly cute and unique with an “R” “N” “S” on each little cake beside it.  Jason, the DJ with unBEATatable Entertainment did a fantastic job keeping the party going all night.

Thanks again for giving me the opportunity to share in your joyous day and inviting me to photograph your wedding.
